IL FORNELLO on King Review

214 King St W, Toronto, ON · Financial District

1/5 Avoid

I haven't eaten at an IL Fornello restaurant in years and now I know why. They are not consistent from place to place.

Case in point on a Foodora delivered IL Fornello order from the King St. W. location:

1. The "Beet Salad" which consists of beets, arugula, and goat's cheese with a balsamic vinaigrette. It's the most homely looking salad you've ever seen. It also tastes like something a you could easily make much better at home. No need to show rabbit food with chunks of crap on it.

2. Premium "Pizza Salmone". This was just a stupid concoction that sounded good at the time. Smoked salmon, mozzarella, panna di cucina (mascarpone cream), arugula, capers, and lemon. Really?

This pizza looked truly unloved. Like a giant naan bread with slices of thawed salmon thrown on top of a bed of arugula. I tasted no mascarpone cream and saw no capers at all. I couldn't bear to continue to eat this thing in its natural form and had to decorate it with caramelized onions and goat cheese. Yes, so I had to end up doing a bit of cooking just to make a delivered item platable!

I won't put a photo of the new and improved pizza I whipped up, because somebody might just think that THEY create pizza goodness!

F&*k off IL Fornello!
