I went to Reservoir Lounge for my birthday dinner and live entertainment, and it turned out to be a great choice for a Sunday night.

The fish cakes were excellent. As my friend described them, you could "taste the sea," and she meant that in the best possible way. They were fresh, flavourful, and one of the highlights of the meal. We also ordered the pizza with everything on it, the last pizza listed on the menu, and it was so fresh and delicious that we ended up ordering a second one. The lychee martinis were okay, but they weren't a highlight for me.

The star of the evening was Xavier Solis. He was an amazingly charismatic singer and performed a fantastic selection of old-school soul and pop hits. He even serenaded me with "Happy Birthday," which made the night especially memorable.

The atmosphere has the feel of an old speakeasy, with a low ceiling, intimate red lighting, a small stage, and a lot of character. There was also plenty of room to dance, which is exactly what some people in the audience did once the music got going.

Overall, we had a great experience. Excellent food, strong live entertainment, and an atmosphere that feels different from the usual Toronto restaurant. I highly recommend Reservoir Lounge for a Sunday night out, especially if you want dinner, live music, and the option to get up and dance.
