Pavao Meats & Deli Review
1435 Dundas St W, Toronto, ON · Queen West & Trinity Bellwoods
I went into the Pavao location in No Frills at 900 Dufferin, on a recommendation of an acquaintance. What a mistake. I asked for a inch and a half to two inch cut of New York sirloin and T-bone steak. The butcher came out and accosted me and asked if that was what I wanted. I showed him using my finger length and then he debated with me about what size I was talking about. Basically, he wanted to sell me the thinly cut slices of meat that was on display.
So after I said are we going to argue about what I want, or are you going to give me what I came for, the idiot went to the back and did whatever.
When I got home I realized I was duped. I had a less than a one inch cut of T-bone (just like what was on display), and a New York striploin that was an inch.
The butcher at this location is mentally deficient and can't be trusted. Why not give me exactly what I'm asking for? That's what I want. Give it to me!
The ultimate reason for not buying meat from this place is the taste when it is cooked. I am an expert at making a delicious steak The T-Bone's grainy quality was not a prime cut of beef. It tasted like an old cow. We didn't bother eating anymore of it. Totally, disappointed, we also gave the uncooked New York sirloin to my friend's dog (who enjoyed it thoroughly).
We aren't willing to get anymore meat from this or any other Pavao location. We don't know where the animal meat's are sourced, and after this experience we can't be bothered with another aggressive Pavao butcher that doesn't listen.
