Shoppers Drug Mart Review

1090 King St W, Toronto, ON · Liberty Village & Parkdale

1/5 Avoid

May 14, 2025. Shoppers Drug Mart at 1090 King Street West.

I’ve had hit and miss service at this location before, but this visit was a mess. I was served by a younger male pharmacy assistant, bearded, flustered, and passive aggressive. He told me my prescription would only be a partial fill and I’d have to come back the next day. I said, “Do I have a choice?” because I needed the medication. He seemed offended by that.

Then he charged me $250.52, full price, even though he was only giving me half. I asked him to clarify and he said it was for the full prescription. So I paid, and he walked off mid-conversation. I asked him to repeat what he said, and he told me the pharmacist would come explain the medication. I said that wasn’t necessary. He shrugged and went back to typing like I was wasting his time.

The next day, I came back to pick up the rest of my prescription. The female pharmacist(?) (her name started with “N”) was helpful and polite. She told me the order wasn’t even submitted the day before. She fixed the mistake and said she’d call me when it arrived.

She called later that day. I then returned to the store around 5:00pm. She wasn’t there, but the same guy who failed to place the order was back. Instead of handing me the bag that was already at the register, since it had been paid for, he ignored me and helped someone at the drop-off counter who clearly wasn’t there for pickup.

I told him I was just there for the rest of the medication that he forgot to order, and since I had already paid for it, there was no need for the delay. He finally gave me the bag, but not before saying I needed to understand it’s “first come, first serve.”

What I understand is that he didn’t take responsibility for his mistake and gave me attitude both times I came in. I don’t know what fantasy land he lives in, but if he’s planning on becoming a licensed pharmacist one day, he’s clearly not interested in providing decent service or retaining customers.

Shoppers Drug Mart please get rid of this bad trash.
