Lavelle Review
627 King St W, Toronto, ON · King West & Entertainment District
UPDATE Aug 2017:
We went back to Lavelle's rooftop after going to the place a few weeks after it opened. What a chaotic mess! Lavelle is not even on par with the Thompson hotel, even though it faces the Thompson. and is partly owned by the same developer. You'll long to be at the Thompson or anywhere else after spending any amount of time at Lavelle.
Lavelle is NOT a beautiful, high-end rooftop patio in Toronto. The esthetic beauty is still not there even a year later. Everything has been designed and furnished without luxurious and high-end style finishes, the furniture is of inferior quality, the sound system is terrible, the bathrooms are deficient, and the patio area is seriously... just ghetto. If the developers (Peter Freed and his partner Reza Abedi) had simply taken a trip to New York, Miami, or Las Vegas, they would have been able to get a clue and make something special. If they went to Dubai, they would have been able to make a real winner out of this Toronto roof-top fiasco. As far as bar service and the drinks, it hasn't gotten much better than this review: https://nowtoronto.com/food-and-drink/drinks/lavelle-bad-sangria-bad-service-and-one-helluva-view/

Lavelle’s rooftop vibe was still sorting itself out on the first weekend they opened in August 2016. No matter, some comfy bar chairs and a better sound system are easy enough to obtain. The muddled mojito’ s were solid, the bartenders friendly, the patrons enjoyed themselves, and the grilled tiger prawn and fresh oysters were excellent. BONUS: a clear view of the CN Tower.
