Hotel X Toronto, a Destination by Hyatt Hotel Review

Hotel X
Stayed here July 7th 2021 for a overnight staycation. The Ontario pandemic lockdown prevented us from using the hotel’s many amenities except for the pool (see below).
Pros:
Friendly staff
Rooms have high ceilings and are clean
Motorized blinds to darken and lighten room
TV that has your name and info on display when your first arrive
Comfy bed, robes, and slippers
Vanity mirror in bathroom that’s great for applying makeup
Cons:
Tricky lights that are a bit of a learning curve - starting with pressing down to turn on, then touch buttons and sliders
Great rooftop heated pool area facing the lake. Unfortunately, a child vomited in the pool so we couldn’t actually get in the pool. However, we did sit on the lounge chair for two hour while we ate, drank, and played our own house/lounge music.
The hotel has a restaurant called Prime on the main floor. Prime restaurant did not advise us that we would be sitting in the rain outside for a 9pm dinner reservation. They had texted us before to confirm our reservation, but when we arrived at 9pm they tried to dissuade us from dining. And really who would sit outside, uncovered and dine when it’s raining? With nothing else available on the Exhibition grounds we had to get in our car. We drove around downtown Toronto for nearly an hour, but our favourite restaurants were either fully booked, or closing. We finally went to 416 Snack Bar and got an order to go just as the kitchen was closing.
Hotel X gave us a $60 credit for the $187.00 that we spent at the pool for the dinner reservation mishap.
Finally, if you are a smoker, most of the rooms do not have a balcony. The smoking area is on the main floor in the front of the hotel. You’ll have to walk through the rain to get to it and even then you will still be standing there getting wet because it is uncovered. The area is also unadorned and uninviting. This sort of makes one feel like they are a pariah. Something should be done about providing a real smoke area for paying hotel guests.
