Glenora Inn & Distillery Review
13727 Highway 19, Mabou, NS
Glenora's tour of single malt whiskey making was very informative. Drinking a 28(?) year old whiskey from the barrel is not an experience you can have everyday. The maturity of that whiskey twenty minutes later is deliciously amazing.
I would say go for the VIP tour and have dinner. Walk around the grounds and see the granite bottomed river close up.
If you like robes, slippers, bodywash, lotion, down pillows, duvets, and a king sized bed that is comfortable to the very edges, this Inn is not it. This is rated a 3 star hotel, and it is debateably just that. It was warm however, once we figured out how to operate the heat/AC hand-held device.
The TV didn't work the first night, and no one seemed to be at the desk after 8:00pm to assist. The next day it took several housekeepers to operate the TV remote which ceased to do the one job it had, and another remote was obtained from an unoccupied room that could recognize the satellite receiver. That being said, the housekeepers admitted to switching up remotes from room to room, because the "TV's never work properly". So imagine no one's surprise if you get a crappy remote in your room that can't operate the TV.
Overall, for the premium cost of staying at a no-frills regular little cabin room, the least they can offer is a couple of pairs of slippers for the cold floors in the rooms. Get them from Alibaba and they'll work out to be less than $3.00/pair with "Glenora Inn" emblazoned on the top. Hell, I would have paid $20.00 for pair.
