Auberge Gisele's Inn Review
387 Shore Rd, Baddeck, NS
Baddeck is a quaint little village in Cape Breton Island.
We stayed in Auberge Gisele's Inn on Sept 22, 2023
Our room was on the second floor, 216 I think. When you first walk in you'll see a king sized bed with a duvet, and some fluffy pillows. The style is a little old, with dark wood furniture, and blue and white carpet. Then you walk around the corner to a separate living room with a fireplace in which you can light logs. Nice touch. The TV worked to show hundreds of channels. Then there is a kitchenette with a full sized fridge. That's the good news.
The bad news was the 3 seater couch. The lime-yellow-green fabric seating areas were stained with some sort of bodily fluid. All the areas you would sit on basically looked like someone leaked a fluid on to it. So we threw the foot thingy they place at the bottoms of beds at hotels on top of the couch seating area, and covered up the offending visual. When we sat down, that couch was uncomfortable as all hell, because there was a bizarre sofa bed in there as well.
Again, if you like slippers, robes, body wash, and lotion, this Inn is not going to give that to you. You'll have to do without. The tub is super weird beneath your feet, and does not feel solid. So a quick shower without trying out the jacuzzi aspect was in order. The inner liner of the shower curtain was missing, so water couldn't stay contained in the tub.
The bed was comfortable and clean to sleep in. So there was that.
The coffee maker made God-awful coffee, so just skip it. Also breakfast is not included, but apparently it's a hot breakfast in their restaurant, we never made it down in time.
Lastly, check out is at 10:30am. WTF? Anyhoo, we got it changed to 11:00am without penalty because we checked in at 18:30pm the day before.
Overall, a debatable 3 star hotel in a good location, just 3 minutes by car to the Alexander Graham Bell museum, and across the street from "Baddeck Lobster Suppers" restaurant. Both of which you have to go to when visiting Baddeck.
